(Changzhou, September 15) China's No. 1 woman shuttler Xie Xingfang has quitted the LI LING China Masters Super Series 2009 that just opend this morning in Changzhou. According to China's women's singles head coach Zhang Ning, Xie gave up the tournament because of a recurrence of an old waist injury during her pre-event training. For this she will also miss the following Japan super series.

As prior to that Xie had decided to retire after this year's National Games, now the last tournament for her in her sports career as a player is the upcoming National Games to be held in Jinan, Shandong Province in October. Needless to say, she is a hot favorite for the women's singles title, which she hopes to win for her hometown Guangdong Province. She will also do her best to win the women's team title together with teammates Yang Wei, Zhang Jiewen and Zhu Jingjing.
