Day 5: China secures men's doubles title in semifinals 2009-09-20 13:00:00

(Changzhou, September 20) The semifinals of the 2009 LI NING China Masters Super Series held on September 19 produced finalists in all the five events, namely Lin Dan and Boosak Ponsana (THA) in the men's singles, Wang Shixian and Wang Lin in the women's singles, Cai Yun/Fu Haifeng and Guo Zhendong/Xu Chen in the men's doubles, Du Jing/Yu Yang and Cheng Shu/Zhao Yunlei in the women's doubles, and Xie Zhongbo/Zhang Yawen and Tao Jiaming/Wang Xiaoli in the mixed doubles.

The spectators were thrilled by the match between China's Lin Dan and his Malaysian rich rival Chong Wei Lee, the world's two best players. As a result, the two superstars gave a classic performance in front of a full house, with Lin Dan winning 2-1. The other semifinal saw China's Chen Jin sending his Thai opponent Boosak Ponsana for the first time to the men's singles finals of the China Masters tournament.

The two winning pairs from the women's doubles semis were Olympic champions Du Jing/Yu Yang and No. 1 seed Cheng Shu/Zhao Yunlei.

In the two all-Chinese affairs in the mixed doubles, Xie Zhongbo/Zhang Yawen managed to beat second-seeded He Hanbin/Yu Yang 21-13, 26-24. In the finals they will meet teammates Tao Jiaming/Wang Xiaoli, who outplayed Chen Zhiben/Zhang Jinkang, also with a score of 2-0.
